A Second January Learning Event!

Join the Palmerton Camera Club's January Zoom Meeting To Learn About:

The Palmerton Camera Club (PCC - not to be confused with PPC - that's us!) has invited us to join them in their January Zoom meeting presentation.  On January 26, PCC will have a program with Hazel Meredith discussing iPhoneography Techniques and Editing Apps.

This event will be held on Zoom at 7:30 pm on January 26th. We will pass on to you the private link needed to get in, several days before the event. Registration is not required.

Hazel Meredith

Hazel Meredith is an award-winning photographer, teacher, speaker, workshop leader, and a highly respected competition judge. In  2007, she began teaching post-processing techniques through local adult education programs, and now teaches at camera clubs and conferences

Hazel loves the creative aspect of photography and post-processing, especially the use of textures, overlays and software to create  unique images. She enjoys teaching and sharing her techniques to assist other photographers in realizing their own creative visions.

Some Gifts From Stephanie:
Stephanie Johnson, our January Monthly Meeting Speaker has shared three very interesting documents.  One is a copy of the slides that she used in her presentation.  The other two are variations on the artistry and technique of intentional camera movement, using wonderful illustrations of ICM variations.
These documents may be found in our website documents section under Speakers' Notes.  But you may directly download them from the following link, provided by Stephanie:

Second January Shoot Out Opportunity

2023 Annual Tobyhanna Millpond #1 Ice Harvest

Saturday, January 28th

Unfortunately, this is an either/or situation - both listed shoot out events are scheduled for the same day so take your pick:

From the event organizer's 2nd notice dated January 20th:

The recent warm weather conditions have not been good for the ice crop.

Even if we cannot cut ice at the 30th Annual Ice Harvest on January 28th, we welcome all visitors to come and hear about the ice harvest industry and see our extensive collection of ice harvesting tools and equipment. It’s a great opportunity for the family to enjoy the outdoors while learning about the local ice harvest history, and it’s free!

Check the ice harvest hotline at 570-894-8205 for the latest information.

Double Your Camera Club Fun!
Double Your Camera Club Fun!

The Palmerton Camera Club (PCC - not to be confused with PPC - that's us!) has invited us to join them in two separate Zoom meeting presentations in January and February. Our Pocono Photo Club Monthly Meeting occurs on January 17th. On January 26, PCC will have a program with Hazel Meredith discussing iPhoneography Techniques and editing apps to up your game. I am taking their word for it that there is such a word as iPhoneography. Google seems to think so. Google also says that Androidography is a thing!

This event will be held on Zoom at 7:30 pm on January 26th. We will pass on to you the private link and secret handshake needed to get in, several days before the event. Registration is not required.

The second invitation extended to PPC by PCC is for a special presentation by Lisa Langell, details to be announced. You might remember that Lisa spoke to our club in August of 2020 about how: An Artistic Photographer Lies in ALL of Us! We do not yet know what she will speak about in February, but she is an engaging speaker and photographer. Her presentation to Palmerton will be on February 23, 2023 and we are also invited for that presentation on Zoom. Details to follow.

Our thanks to Connie Reinhart, the connective tissue that joins PPC with PCC.

Hughes Library Looking For Photo Exhibition Help
Hughes Library Looking For Photo Exhibition Help

EMPL Exhibition

The Eastern Monroe Public Library (EMPL), Hughes Library Branch is looking for someone with a critical eye to help select pictures from a large photo collection for four separate library exhibitions.

This project is not associated with the Pocono Photo Club. Photographer Jesse Weiss (1925 to 2013) was a lifelong local area photographer. His estate donated his lifetime collection of photograph to the Hughes Library. It is a large collection. Jim Adams, EMPL reference librarian, has put together a series of four exhibitions to display different aspects of Jesse's photography, as shown on the graphic above. He is looking for someone with a sophisticated eye to help select the prints to be displayed.

If that sounds like an interesting project, please contact Jim Adams at the Hughes Library branch of EMPL. His phone: 570-421-0800, ext. 316. Email: If you do get involved, please advise the club at so that we may follow your progress and publicize the event further.
