The Photographer of the Month For July 2024 is Ann LeFevre

I’ve been a member of the Pocono Photo Club since 2013, and although I joined with the intent of staying “under the radar” for at least a year, I quickly became noticed and then involved with club activities. The following pictures are a combination of my journey, my “style”, my way of seeing things and how I like to play with my images. I’ve used a number of cameras throughout the years- all basic to getting the job done, but none the type of equipment photographers dream about. But to be honest with you, I’m more about the art of photography than the equipment, so that’s never been important to me. Currently I use my cell phone most of the time, and that’s not top of the line either!

When asked about what they photograph most photographers say something even non-photographers recognize. “I’m a nature photographer.” “I do portraiture.” But while I have taken images in both of those genres, I am neither. When I tell people that I am a Fine Art photographer they usually look confused. “I take pictures of things like rusty latches, peeling paint, vignettes, and details of places and objects that most people usually don’t see.” “Ohhh…” is the reply I usually get to this definition, but I don’t mind. When they see my images, they truly see what I’m talking about!

I have a unique way of viewing the world and I try to view it through my camera differently too. I’m always on the look-out for something eye-catching- but not in the “Wow!” kind of way- more in the “I never saw that before” kind of way. It’s really hard to put several decades of photos into one short collection, but here is what caught my attention as I put this compilation together. It begins with my granddaughter challenging you to look at your world in a new way, and ends with a reflection of me in my toaster because- you never know where a picture will pop up next!
