The Photographer of the Month For April 2024 is Maurie Harmon
As many of us, I started photography during the film days, mostly photos while on vacation and of the kids when young. Since my “kids” are now in their 40's I estimate I have been doing this for 50 plus years. My first digital camera was a Nikon D3000. I moved to an Olympus mirror-less camera, E-M5 with a 12-200mm lens and an E-M1 with a 12-100mm pro lens and a 30mm Macro lens.
Mostly I shoot landscapes along with some flowers and a few animals when lucky. I like that it gets you outside and into the woods. In trying to 'see' a potential picture it forces you to pay close attention to what's there, which in turn increases your appreciation of the natural world. Sometimes when the conditions and scene are good you can just get “lost”. I also enjoy the sharing, learning from photos of others as well as others appreciating my photos. The photo club is good at sharing knowledge. It was on a photo shoot that I learned that I should be shooting in raw and not in jpg. And I much appreciate the TOALC class that Eric conducts and the effort he puts into it. I have learned a great deal and enjoyed the time spent there.
