This month, we’re thrilled to welcome acclaimed black and white photographer Cole Thompson as our featured speaker.

In just 75 minutes, Cole will make a compelling case for why black and white photography is the perfect medium for nearly every subject—except one. His presentation will include selections from several of his powerful and thought-provoking portfolios, including:The Ghosts of Auschwitz-Birkenau

Harbinger; Ceiling Lamps; Moai, Sitting for Portrait; The Lone Man; Powerlines; Ancient Stones…and more.

Cole Thompson is uniquely unqualified to speak on photography.

“I’ve never taken a photography class or a workshop. I don’t have a degree in art. I’ve never worked as a photographer. I don’t have gallery representation. I’m not a Canon Explorer of Light. And I only have three lenses and none of them are primes.”

Do I have any qualifications?

“Just one…my images. Nothing else matters.”

It's time for our annual Calendar Photo Contest! Since 2020 the Friends of DWGNRA has been hosting this contest where you can win a prize of $50 in each of four categories. You may enter up to 4 photos for $5, and multiple entries are allowed. There is no date restriction on when the photos were taken.

Even if you don't win, your photo(s) may be chosen for our 2026 calendar. It is a judged competition that shows the beauty, history, wildlife, and wonderful recreation that our DWGNRA offers everyone!!

Barrett Township Photo Exhibit

Barrett Township Photo Exhibit!

We need more Photos!

We have been asked to be the Photo club that will supply photos of the Cresco, Barrett Township Areas in the new Barrett Township Municiple building.The Township has taken over the old Barrett Elementary school and has started converting it into their offices and meeting rooms. In their main meeting room, they have supplied us with a wire hanging system that can holds at least 24 photos!

We are looking for members to be able to submit and few photos or update the ones already there onSaturday, August 16th. .Drop off time 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.

This is a great opportunity for our club!

Also. we have this space for as long as we want!

Guidelines:

-Photos must have a hanging wire.

-Photos must be of the Cresco, Barrett Township area.

-Max size 16 x 20

-Framed or unframed.

-We can sell our Photos.

-Must have name tag and title.

-Must complete photo release form.

Clymer Library - Veterans Photo Exhibit

The Pocono Photo Club will be displaying it's "Honoring Our Vets" exhibit at the Clymer Library in Pocono Pines from September 2nd until the 27th. The display features images which demonstrate our gratitude for all those who have served in the military, both past and present. From patriotic themes to photos of those who have served, to images of events which honor our servicemen and women, the club is pleased to bring about public awareness of the sacrifices they have made and the respect they deserve in the library's beautiful community room.

Start framing those photos and prepare for this great event!

More information to come with regard to hanging and drop off dates.

Guidelines:

- Must have having wire attached to photo.

- Photo size limit is 16x20

- Pictures must have a military Theme.

- Please have contact information on each picture.

STROUDFEST

AUGUST 30, 2025

11:00am - 6:00pm

The Pocono Photo Club in conjunction with Studio R Photography will be having a display at this year's Stroudfest. StroudFest – FREE COMMUNITY EVENT – The Sherman Theater presents the 16th annual Labor Day Festival on Saturday, August 30 from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM! Craft, retail, food and beverage vendors will line the sidewalks on Main Street from 5th to 9th Street, featuring a food court in Courthouse Square, complementing dozens of eclectic shops and restaurants downtown. There will be live music at multiple stages throughout the day, and lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy!

We will be setting up our tent and display for the event. Our location will be near Starbucks Cafe.

If you would like to display your photos, please see requirements below. We will also be highlighting past events that the club has participated in.

-Pictures must be framed.

-Size limit to 12x18 max

-Pictures may be sold at the event.

-Must have Tag with Name and Price

-Limit 3 per Person.

We will also need some volunteers throughout the event with setting up and takedown.

Members are responsible for drop off and pickup for the event.

PPC Picnic 2025

Our annual summer picnic has been rescheduled to September 13th at Brodhead Creek Park in East Stroudsburg. We’ll be gathering at the same pavilion as last year.

Please bring a covered dish, refreshments, or something special to share. You can use this link to let us know what you’ll be bringing.

Also, don’t forget to bring a bag chair, your camera, and plenty of great stories.

We hope to see everyone there!
