Neil Boushell is the Pocono Photo Club Photographer of the Month!
“For me, the camera is a sketch book, an instrument of intuition and spontaneity.”
Henri Cartier-Bresson
I guess I’ve been taking pictures my whole life. The basic documentary shots everyone takes, holidays, birthdays, an occasional nice sunset, etc.. But it wasn’t until about 6 1/2 years ago, shortly after a ruptured brain aneurysm and some strokes that I actually began to think about the composition or the final image before I take the shot. I’m not sure what was re-wired up there... but once I discovered the idea of “creating” an image, I was Hooked and have been ever since. Photography has become my go to easy escape from things.
I use very modest gear, my only camera other than my cell phone is a Canon Rebel T6 with the stock lens kit...18-55 & 75-300. I have no one favorite genre and enjoy playing around and experimenting in all areas of photography.
A big part of my development as an ever learning hobbyist has been joining PPC. The warm, welcoming, helpful attitude towards an uncertain newcomer was a confidence builder from the minute I joined. The diversity of styles and great unique talents found within the group is what I enjoy and have learned from the most...Which is why I am very honored to have been chosen as Photographer Of The Month by such an outstanding group. Thank you to everyone involved!
“The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things with words.”
Elliott Erwitt
