Ken Winham
Ken Winham is the Pocono Photo Club Photographer of the Month!

How long have you been taking pictures?
I bought my first camera in May of 2015, a Nikon d3200 with 2 kit lenses. I immediately caught the bug and have been shooting away since.

What or who got you started?
My grandfather had been a newspaper photographer in the 1930s until he retired in the '60s. I had been fascinated by the ability to capture moments in time.

What camera/lenses do you use or do you have a favorite camera and why?
I currently use an Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark 2 with a 40-150 mm f'2.8 telephoto and a 1.4x teleconverter. I had bought this setup after the Nikon d500 became a bit too heavy to hike with. However, I would like to switch back to it.

What is your favorite genre and subject matter?
As may be evident from the photos in my photographer of the month set, I enjoy birds. In reality, I enjoy shooting anything alive and moving.

What’s on your photo bucket list?
I would love to see some of our national parks and photograph the beauty of nature. Not to mention, more animals in the wild.

What do you enjoy most about photography?
My favorite part and most frustrating part as well, is finding the animals to photograph. I have no problem with driving hundreds of miles to shoot one animal.

Do you have a favorite shot?
My favorite photo I took would have to be an eagle relieving itself. I know others would shun a photo like this, but timing is everything.

Do you have a favorite place you like to go to take photos?
My current favorite place to take photos is Edwin Forsythe Wildlife Preserve near Atlantic City, NJ. Throughout the year, the subjects change.

Is there anything else you’d like to publicize (photographic goals, what you like about the club, if you’ve taken part in any exhibits or earned an award, a favorite photo experience- whatever you’d like to share)?
I enjoy the club for the friends I've made and to explore other types of photography outside what I'm familiar with.
