The Tannersville Cranberry Bog: Images of Captured Beauty
A Visual Guide

Laurinda Faye, local photographer and volunteer steward of the Tannersville Cranberry Bog (which is a designated National Natural Landmark owned by The Nature Conservancy and located in Pocono Township, PA), was awarded by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA) through its Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA), a Project Stream Art Grant entitled: “The Tannersville Cranberry Bog: Images of Captured Beauty….A Visual Guide”

Laurinda Faye collaborated with the Monroe County Conservation District (MCCD) Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center (KCEEC) and the Pocono Photo Club to capture the unique species of the local natural area “The Tannersville Cranberry Bog.” Pocono Photo Club members captured 20 of the unique species of plants located in the Tannersville Cranberry Bog and created 20 photo guides for the naturalist of KCEEC to use during their public and school walks in the Tannersville Cranberry Bog. The guides will provide visual aids for the naturalists to use while describing the unique species that bloom throughout the year in the Tannersville Cranberry Bog.

On Sunday August 12th 2018 @ 11:00 a.m. during the annual “Tannersville Cranberry Bog Day” the Pocono Photo Club members will present The Nature Conservancy and the KCEEC staff with the completed Visual Guides during a ceremony at the Tannersville Cranberry Bog on Cherry Lane Rd. Local public officials, Pocono Arts Council members and community members are invited to participate in the celebration. Members of the Pocono Photo Club will have on display enlarged framed images of the unique species found in the Bog. Light cranberry themed refreshments will be available to celebrate this unique area in Monroe County, PA. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the KCEEC building on Running Valley Road. Register to attend this free event by contacting KCEEC at 570-629-3061.
